Self Help Housing
Self
Help Housing supervises the entire construction process to help
you build the best quality home.
Building
Your Home
In
the Self Help Housing program, a group of six families and individuals
is organized to work together under the guidance of the Self Help
Construction Manager. The group does at least 65% of the construction
work--about 25-30 hours/week. Groups hold regular meetings to coordinate
their work. Group members are required to work on everyone's home
and they receive the same credit for their work regardless of whether
they are working on their own home or on the homes of other group
members.
The sweat equity you earn by working on the homes is your down payment.
By
working together, all members of the group complete their homes
at the same time--no one moves in until all homes of the group
are completed.
