Sundown Salute 2008
The Sundown Salute committee has been working hard
to put together our 2008 celebration. The theme for this year’s
event is “Happy 150th Birthday Junction City.” The fun
will start on July 2nd and run through July 6th. Most of the events
will be centered around Heritage Park.
If you have not been a part of this celebration, you are missing
a wonderful all-American 4th of July. Sundown Salute has bands,
fireworks, food, shows and a parade. There is a petting zoo, car
show, motorcycle daredevils, monkeys, chain saw carvers, kids’
zone, carnival, science experiments, puppets, kids parade, movies
in the park, and much, much more.
The music lineup kicks off with Military Appreciation Night and
the all-girl country group “Cowboy Crush.” On Thursday
night we will have tribute bands performing on the big stage. On
the 4th of July we will have our headline band. On Saturday, July
5th, we will have a “Battle of the Bands” and Jefferson
Starship performing. Of course, on Sunday, July 6th we will have
the traditional church service and religious pop group performing
that night.
This event takes the support of all the community. Over $250,000
is raised each year to make this all happen. A great big thanks
to our major sponsor, Jim Clark Chevrolet. Watch for all of the
details on this exciting community event or check out the website
at Sundown Salute.org The 2008 Sundown Salute will be a fun time
in Junction City.
