Utilities
(Water & Sewer)
Dirty
Water
Dirty
(brown) water is normally the result of water interruption by the
opening and closing of a fire hydrant. Shutting down, and then restoring
a water line to service may also cause it. In the event of dirty
water coming from your tap, you need to initially let your water
run to see if it clears up as well as contacting the Public Works
Department who will proceed to flush the Citys fire hydrant
lines. You should let the water settle dwon by minimizing water
flow for several hours. To report dirty water,
Please
call 238-7142, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
After
hours emergency calls should be made to the Police Department at
762-5912.
Fire
Hydrants
Fire
Hydrants within the City are the responsibility of the Veolia Utility
Department. The Citys Fire Department runs periodic static
and residual testing on them as well as flushing the entire system
once a year. The Veolia Utility Department does all the maintenance,
repair, raising or lowering, and installation of fire hydrants.
In
case of leaks or damage to fire hydrants, please call 238-7142,
Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. After hours emergency
calls should be made to the Police Department at 762-5912
Lift
Stations

The
Utility Department is currently responsible for 18 lift stations
throughout the community with 3 more scheduled to come on line at
a future date. Lift stations are located in low areas and their
purpose is to pump sewage to higher areas where it can flow by gravity
to one of the two wastewater treatment plants. Due to the advanced
technology that was recently installed, the stations can now be
checked daily via the internet. This allows the technician to keep
apprised of how they are functioning during the week and only have
to visit them once per week. This technology also monitors the stations
constantly and will notify the Utility Department if any alarm conditions
are experienced.
Water
Main Break
In
the event of a water main break, Veolia Utilities Department will
send a crew to repair the City line. Procedure: Water main breaks
should be reported to the Public Works, Monday through Friday, 7:30
AM to 4:00 PM at 238-7142. After hours emergency
calls should be directed to the Junction City Police Department
at 762-5912.
