It is the mission of the Junction City Police Department’s Community Involvement Unit (C.I.U.) to provide professional service and dedication to the citizens of Junction City to improve quality of life. We realize that citizens' needs differ and understand that to accomplish our goal we must commit ourselves to the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing and promote proactive problem solving, develop partnerships, and provide support to the community.

The C.I.U. was formed in 2002 and included several programs already being run by the Police Department. The unit is composed of 6 Officers that are certified School Resource Officers (S.R.O.'s). Two are full-time D.A.R.E. Officers and one is a Certified Police Bicycle Officer. Two Officers are assigned as S.R.O.'s at the High School and the Middle School. The Goal of the Unit is to Provide Education, Services, and Ideas in problem solving as part of an overall Community Policing Philosophy.
