JCPD's Citizen Academy

The Junction City Police Department Citizen's Police Academy was created to forge a partnership between citizens and the Junction City Police. The goal fo the Citizen's Police Academy is to educate Junction City citizens about the structure and activities of their police department. The class is not a "training" class, but is an exciting "information" class, a behind-the-scenes look at the department. The program operateson the premise that informed and aducated citizens will be more supportive of police officers and the department. and will be more productive within their own neighborhoods and communities.

Tentative Fall Class Schedule Week 1: 9/08- Welcome Philosophy & Mission Week 2: 9/15- Blight Enforcement School Resource Officer DUI Enforcement DUI Practical Week 3: 9/22- Department and Jail Tour Officer Selection & Training Week 4: 9/29- Operations Division Week 5: 10/6- D.A.R.E. & G.R.E.A.T. Municipal & Distict Court Week 6: 10/13- Use of Force Week 7: 10/20- Drug Operations Group Fire Arms Familiarization Week 8: 10/27- Investigations Lab Week 9: 11/3- Tactical Response Unit Week 10: 11/10- Graduation Optional activities will be available for participants to engage in the Physical Assessment Test, Court Attendance, and going to the Range. The 2008 Fall Citizen Police Academy will begin on September 8th, 2008. Classes will run for 10-weeks every Monday from 7 pm to 9 pm. The class will be limited to 16 participants.
