The staff consists of one full-time Animal Control Officer and two part-time Kennel Workers. The Animal Control Officer is dispatched through the Police Department (785-762-5912). You may also e-mail ACO Jessica Swedin directly. She works Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Calls for service after those hours are referred to the Patrol Division. They will only respond to injured or vicious animal calls.
Unclaimed animals are usually kept for approximately 7 days. Whenever feasible, it is the policy of the shelter to adopt out animals. The Center works closely with the Friends of Animals to make as many adoptions as possible. If you would like to adopt an animal, please call or come by the Center. The Workers will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
