Want
To Be An Electrician?
If Edison is your childhood hero, and an electrician is your choice
of career, congratulations, electricity and new high-tech conveniences
will make your job fun and new and exiting with the ever changing
world of new electronic gear installation. Electricians are classified
as Craftsmen along with Plumbers, and Heating and Air Conditioning
contractors and are required to be licensed by the City Inspection
Department.
If
you’ve been licensed in Junction City and have let your license
lapse for a year or more, you will be required to show proof of
Block & Associates testing.
If
you want to work as an Apprentice, you need to have the Contractor
you work for come in and have you licensed as an Apprentice for
their firm. If you want to work as a Journeyman, the Contractor
you work for must come in and show your Block & Associates score
to have you licensed as a Journeyman Electrician.
If
you’re going into business for yourself as an Electrical Contractor,
you will need to show Block & Associates testing for Master
Electrician. You will also have to apply for a Electrical Contractor’s
License and show proof of $500,000 of liability insurance.
Electrical
installations, when done by a professional, appears to be little
more than pulling hundreds of wires, but remember you are dealing
with a force that can shock and kill, and if not done properly,
can cause fires that can go undetected until too late. Simple household
repairs can be done by most, but be sure you know what you’re doing
before you put a screwdriver to that connection.
Remember,
when doing any household repairs to be sure to use all the proper
eye, head, and hand safety equipment, and to keep all tools in good
repair and ... use all the guards on your tools.
