SALVATION ARMY

The Salvation Army is a religious and charitable organization. This area provides social services on a non-sectarian basis; supplemental and emergency relief; temporary assistance for transient families; and regularly scheduled interdominational church worship services.

OPERATES:
A self-sustained Thrift Store through donations of good reusable items from the community.
CHRISTMAS:
The Salvation Army provides Christmas baskets to families who would otherwise go without a meal and provides toys for children of needy families.

SENIOR SERVICES-FELLOWSHIP MEALS

Provides a broad range of services for the elderly (60 years and older), including information on both private and public community services available; assistance in locating and using appropriate resource. Provides recreational programs that follow a nutritional noon meal. Last Wednesday of each month blood pressure reading and general health program is available, also commodities given. Provides door-to-door transportation for noon meals and with advanced notice will make stops in Junction City for bill paying and grocery shopping. Home delivered meals available for the home bound. 2nd Tuesday of each month, at 10:00 a.m. Visually Impaired Support Meeting. Exercises each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Each Thursday 9:00 a.m. Square Dancing, 10:00 a.m. Line Dancing.

FEE: Minimal contributions; No one is refused services.
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday


SERTOMA CLUB

Provides an organization for the professional or businessperson to become involved in community improvement projects. Promotes interest, cooperation and current developments that influence and concern the “working world”. Supports a fund raising for hearing and speech development and research.

SHRINE CLUB OF JUNCTION CITY/FORT RILEY

The Club is a satellite organization of the ISIS Shrine Temple, Salina. The Club provides funds for the transportation, meals and lodging of families using the Shrine Crippled Children Hospitals or Burn Institutes, from this area and assists the parents and children to obtain this service and assists the parents and children to obtain this service and help make the arrangements. Treatment at the Hospitals and Burn Centers is provided by the Shrine of North America for children under the age of eighteen needing treatment, with no cost to the patient. Fund raising projects are conducted each year to help provide the service.

Income Maintenance (IM)
Administers public assistance programs, including TANF, General Assistance (GA), Refugee Assistance and Food Stamps. Eligibility is determined through an application process and is based upon household income levels, available assets, and the number of household members.

Child Care Assistance
Provides childcare funding assistance for Income Maintenance clients and other low-income individuals, who are employed. Eligibility is determined through an application process and is based upon household income levels and the number of household members.

Vocational Rehabilitation
Provides vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with severe physical and/or mental disability that significantly limits their opportunities to obtain and/or maintain employment. Eligibility is determined through medical and vocational assessments, which are provided at no cost to applicants.

Children & Family Services
Conducts child abuse and neglect assessments, assists in the preservation of families through the provision of services designed to minimize abuse and neglect of children while improving the parenting skills of caretakers, oversees the needs of minors placed into foster care by the court system, coordinates that adoption of children with special needs and performs court-ordered supervision of juvenile offenders.

Adult Services
Provides services to individuals in the community who are 18 years of age or older who are unable to provide total care for themselves, or who are unable to protect themselves. Program eligibility is determined through an assessment process, and is based upon personal need, income and available resources.

Child Support Enforcement
Provides services to locate absent parents, establish paternity, establish and enforce support and/or medical insurance for all children residing in Kansas. To apply or inquire, please contact the Manhattan SRS office.

FEE: Apartment rent, varies with level of care needed and size of apartment.
