Kansas
Children’s Service League is a statewide private, non-profit
child welfare agency providing services to children and/or their
families.
COMMUNITY
SERVICES PROVIDED:
Foster Care: Children ages 0 – 17
Temporary Foster Care – Short term placement for children
whose parents must be out of the home due to illness or a crisis
in the family.
Emergency
Foster Care – Short term placement for children who are removed
from their homes because of abuse, neglect or behavior problems.
Respite
Foster Care – Planned, short term hourly care by a trained
provider for a child who has a physical or mental disability, emotional
disturbance, or chronic medical condition.
KCSL
recruits, licenses and trains Foster parents to provide care for
children experiencing any of the above problems.
Special
Needs Adoption Recruitment: Adoption for children over the age of
seven, children of color, and sibling groups.

The
Housing Division of this department provides technical assistance
to communities to help them participate in subsidized housing to
low-income persons. The state of Kansas has no funding for housing
so the programs available for communities are funded by the Department
of Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, and
the United States Department of Treasury. In addition, the Division
administers the Housing Assistance Payments Program on Section 8
New Construction Multi-family housing, which has financed through
KHDC (Kansas Housing Development Corporation) with 11B bond financing.

Provides
personal adjustment training and vocational evaluations for the
blind and visually impaired adults in the state of Kansas. Provides
training in: orientation and mobility skills, techniques of daily
living, communication skills, manual arts, personal adjustment counseling,
and computer technology. Residential living is provided during the
training period. It also provides a program for older adults, Kan-Sail.
ELIGIBILITY:
Persons with blind/visual impairment referred through vocational
rehabilitation.

Upward
Bound is a federally funded program designed to generate skills
and motivation to pursue post-secondary education for students from
disadvantaged backgrounds. During the school year, tutoring and
other support services are offered to students in grades 9 –
12 from Junction City, Riley, Manhattan, Rock Creek, St. George
and Westmoreland. During the summer, students live on K-State campus
for 6 weeks and the program for Bridge students just graduating
is 8 weeks. Membership is limited.

Konza
Prairie Community Health Center exists to provide to all citizens
needed primary medical care, regardless of age, race, sex, creed
or ability to pay. A sliding fee scale is used to determine patient
costs, and Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance are accepted.
In addition to primary health care, KPCHC can provide diabetes self-management
training, school physicals, and a variety of other health services.
