Head
Start is an interdisciplinary child development program concerned
with the whole child. The program promotes a good self-concept,
good health and well-being & pride in the family. Head Start
is for low income four year old children to help them get a “head
start” in school. Services provided include free transportation,
pre-school education experiences, breakfast, lunch and snack, assistance
with required health screenings, speech and mental health services
for children enrolled, parent sharing sessions, arts and craft session
for families.

Mission
is to prevent diseases, investigate communicable disease, monitor
the health status of the community and to educate the community
about health issues.
Functions
include preventing epidemics and the spread of disease, prevent
injuries, protect against environmental hazards, promote and encourage
healthy behaviors, respond to disaster and assist community in recovery,
assure the quality and accessibility of health services.

The
Healthy Start Program is to alleviate some of the frustrations of
being a new parent by helping mothers and fathers with infant care;
helping them become more comfortable with their babies and providing
knowledge of community services for comprehensive health care and
nutrition education through the use of trained home visitors. We
also hope to motivate young mothers to attain basic immunization
standards, good nutrition for the whole family periodic examinations
by a trained professional.

The
purpose of the Heartland Works is to help people attain education
and marketable job skills. The program is set up to help primarily
low income people who meet the federal poverty guidelines. However,
there are other barriers to employment, such as school dropouts
and the handicapped, which can be served regardless of income. Heartland
Works offers vocational training assistance, summer youth employment
and develops on-the-job training with the private and public sectors
in the Geary County area.
HOME & COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES (HCBS)

The
purposes of the Home and Community Based Program is to meet the
needs of individuals who would have to be in a care home or institution
without these services. It provides alternatives to care homes and
institutions. It is the client’s choice to participate in
this program. To be eligible: 1) Client must be over 16 years of
age, 2) Client must be screened as needed at least an intermediate
care facility and 3) Client must have medical assistance eligibility
by SRS.
SERVICES
PROVIDED INCLUDE:
Adult Family Home, Congregate Living, Habilitation, Wellness Monitoring,
Home Health Aide, In Home Care Worker, Adult Day Health, Night Support,
Respite Care, Medical Attendant and Medical Alert.

Provides
care for the terminally ill patient and his/her family. Provides
many services in this stressful time by meeting physical, emotional,
social, and spiritual needs experienced by the patient and his/her
family. It also provides Home Health Care.
ELIGIBILITY:
Volunteers are from the Junction City/Geary County area. Volunteers
must be trained.

When
it comes to health care, there is no place like home. Eldercare
home health care is a service provided to patients and their families
in their home to promote independent living, health maintenance
and restoration. Eldercare is Medicare/Medicaid certified. Services
provided include: Skilled nursing services, certified Home Health
aides, physical therapy, speech therapy, and homemaker/sitter service.
Services provided without distinction of races, religion, age, sex
or national origin. Also Senior Care Act Funding for Attendant Care
and Homemaker Services.

Provides
education for tenants and landlords on rights and responsibilities
in renting in the state of Kansas. Counseling, mediation and budget
counseling is provided. Information on leases and evictions is available.
Also provides counseling for homeowners, prospective home buyers
and mortgage problems. Certified Consumer Credit Counseling Service
(CCCS) offering Money Management Counseling and Agency—managed
voluntary debt repayment programs as an alternative to bankruptcy.
