and donates these funds to local, state, national and international
programs which include the Charities of the Eagles. Will consider
any funding request if groups in the Junction City area and surrounding
communities.

Emergency Shelter, Inc. (MESI) was established January 1985 to provide
homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals and families
an opportunity to regain their dignity and independence through
temporary shelter, food, clothing and counseling. Manhattan Emergency
Shelter, Inc. adopted the premise of not being another “band-aid
agency” but one that equips the individuals with the necessary
skills to negotiate the ups and downs of daily living.
FEE:
Services are free. Donations are accepted and appreciated.
HOURS: 24 hours daily
ELIGIBILITY: 18 years or older, unless with parent or guardian.

Engages
in community problem solving dealing with community health, consumer
affairs and community leadership development. Assistance and information
are available for agri-business, horticulture, community beautification,
community resource development, home and family living, consumer
information & youth development. Provides educational publications,
demonstrations, workshops and consulting services upon request.
SPONSORS:
Extension Education Units are made up of adults in the community
who meet monthly to discuss ideas for improving health and well
being of families. 4-H community and Project clubs meet regularly
to foster positive youth development, leadership abilities, and
service to community.
