The Al-Anon
Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics
who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve
their common problem. We believe alcoholism is a family illness
and that changed attitudes can aid recovery. Al-Anon is not allied
with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization or institution.
There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through
it’s own voluntary contributions. Al-Anon is an anonymous
fellowship. Everything that is said here, in the group meeting and
member-to-member must be held in confidence.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share

The Amateur
Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is a volunteer radio communications
service available to federal, state, county and local governments,
as well as non-profit organizations. ARES is make up of more than
25,000 Amateur Radio Operators (Hams) nationwide who have voluntarily
registered their services and formed an organized pool of operators
to provide reliable primary or secondary communication links for
governmental and/or non-profit organizations when needed.

a century, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has

organization that is affiliated with an American Legion Post. Provides
assistance to any individual who has served in the Armed Forces

Sponsors youth group activities and Girl’s State. Donation

school and/or college level student. Parents must be members. Has
a strong volunteer program that encourages member involvement in
community programs.

The mission
of the American Red Cross is to improve the quality of human life,
to enhance self-reliance and concern for others. To help people
avoid, prepare for, and cope with emergencies. It does this through
services governed and directed by volunteers.
Services provided
include: utility assistance, emergency needs and rehabilitation
assistance to disaster victims, serves as an independent medium
of voluntary relief and communications between American people and
their Armed Forces, provides a volunteer blood service, and conducts
community courses in CPR, First Aid, Water Safety and Life guarding.
American Red
Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations
of time and money of the American people.

ANIMAL CONTROL CENTER

A temporary
shelter for stray cats and dogs where they are housed and fed for
5 days before being placed for adoption. Center will try to notify
owners if pet has proper identification (pet license). To adopt
a pet the Animal Control Center takes an adoption fee and neuter
surgery deposit per pet. Owners are charged impound fine and per
day charges by the City. City licenses are rabies vaccinations are
also required for animals over 6 months of age.

The Area Agency
plans, provides and coordinates services for older Kansans in partnership
with local organizations. The Agency’s programs and services
are focused on enhancing dignity and independence of older Kansans.
Community education and training programs for a variety of groups
are sponsored. The Agency provides assessment and case management
services to help older Kansans remain in their homes for as long
as possible. Contracts are awarded to incorporated agencies or units
of local government to provide direct services such as transportation,
home health, homemaker, chore service, senior centers, and legal
services within communities. Services administered directly by the
AAA are: Information and assistance, case management, friendship
meals (meals served at local senior dining centers and home-delivered
meals), home repair and rural housing vouchers.

ACS is the central
facility for assistance, information and referral for all military
personnel and their family members. Someone is always available
with whom problems can be discussed confidentially. Family members
need not be accompanied by their sponsor. Volunteers are always
welcome.
INFORMATION
AND REFERRAL:
Provides general information and gives assistance in locating needed
services ( both on and off post). The following are specifically
identified ACS services. If you have a need for a service not listed
contact the Information and Referral Section.
EXCEPTIONAL
FAMILY MEMBER PROGRAM ( EFMP):
Provides resource information specific to particular needs of exceptional
family members. Guidance is offered for compassionate reassignments
and deletion of orders. Advocacy services and newsletters available
to qualified families.
FINANCIAL SERVICES:
Provides classes and individual counseling on financial management
and consumer education, including how to reach financial goals,
ways to reduce debts, cost of credit, budget development, checkbook
management, consumer’s rights and obligations and resolving
consumer complaints.
FAMILY MEMBER
EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (FMEAP):
Provides information on area employment opportunities, volunteer
opportunities and education resources; operates a job bank, offers
services to help individuals identify job skills and offers periodic
workshops related to job seeking.
INTERNATIONAL
WIVES:
Wives from other nations meet the U.S. wives on the second Thursday
of each month to share lunch and a special program.
LENDING CLOSET:
Pots, pans, cots, play pens, dishes, bedding and other necessary
household items are available on a 30 day loan to incoming and outgoing
personnel. Military orders are required.
RELOCATION SERVICES:
A wide range of information available for individuals arriving at
or departing from Fort Riley. Extensive information is available
regarding as Military installations worldwide. Assistance regarding
preparing to move; what to take, or not to take; and a host of other
questions can be answered by a relocation counselor. New arrivals
will find information and services to assist them in settling in.

AER is a non-profit
organization with the sole mission of helping Army personnel and
their family members in time of valid emergency travel expenses
and for essentials to prevent privation (rent, food, utilities).
Assistance is available in the form of interest free loans or grants.
