JCKS
Citizens' Institute
The
JCKS Citizens Institute is an opportunity for Junction City residents
to get more involved in city government. The goals of the Institute
are–
- To
improve citizens’ understanding of local government
-
To encourage citizen participation in local government
-
To encourage civil discourse and dialogue
-
To develop a pool of knowledgeable individuals for future membership
on city boards
We
hope to help citizens become better acquainted with city programs
and services and how the city staff and elected officials perform
their functions. And we hope it will encourage citizens to get more
involved with their government–at all levels.
The
Institute is held twice each year, the spring session beginning
in February and the fall session in September. The eight sessions
meet every two weeks and a Recognition Celebration brings the Institute
to a close. Up to twelve Junction City residents will be participants.
Two spaces will be reserved for local high school students.
Applications
are now being accepted. They are available at Customer Service in
the Municipal Building or may be downloaded from the Junction City
website and returned to the City Manager’s Office.
