Human
Relations Commission
The
mission of the Human Relations Commission is to promote equality
and understanding among the various groups within the city of Junction
City. The Commission believes this to be a continuous process whose
end has not yet been fully realized. Thus, we exist to further this
end through education, training, and unifying various groups through
programs.
In
order to accomplish this mission, the Commission has been created
with certain functions. They are:
1. Study and investigate problems arising in the City of Junction
City as a result of discrimination based on race, sex, age, religion,
color, national origin, ancestry, familial status or disability.
2. Report periodically to the City Commission of Junction City,
Kansas, on such studies and investigations and to make recommendations
for appropriate remedial action.
3. Carry out a public education program and solicit the cooperation
of individuals and organizations, including the Kansas Human Rights
Commission, in promoting equality and understanding among all citizens
of Junction City, Kansas. (CC 1965 §20-304; Ord. No. G-649

The Commission consists of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor
to serve three year terms.
Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm
